Global Water Intelligence spotlights Aquatech in CTO Outlook

In a recent interview with Global Water Intelligence (GWI), the premier publication in the water sector, our President and Chief Technology Officer, Ravi Chidambaram, shared Aquatech’s advancements of technologies and strategies shaping the industry’s future.

Ravi emphasized that investment in research and development is key to driving innovation in water management. By focusing on solutions that optimize water reuse, reduce waste and improve efficiency, we are helping industries and municipalities navigate growing water challenges while maintaining cost-effectiveness and sustainability.

“Our R&D pipeline for membrane development is stronger than ever, consisting of many more exciting and breakthrough products.”

Zero liquid discharge (ZLD) remains a major area of focus, with growing adoption across industries seeking to meet stringent environmental regulations. Ravi highlighted our work in advanced membrane distillation and crystallization technologies, which are making ZLD more energy-efficient and cost-effective. Additionally, our leadership in brine mining is opening new opportunities to recover valuable resources from wastewater, further reinforcing the shift toward circular water management.

“Aquatech has maintained its leadership position and has been continuously enhancing and upgrading its offering to stay at the forefront in ZLD technologies.”

Another pressing challenge is addressing emerging contaminants, including PFAS. Ravi noted that we are actively advancing membrane-based solutions and other cutting-edge treatment technologies to help clients meet evolving regulatory requirements while ensuring long-term water quality and safety.

Looking ahead, Aquatech sees tremendous potential in innovations such as low-energy desalination, which could significantly reduce the energy footprint of seawater reverse osmosis. By continuously refining and deploying these disruptive technologies, we are committed to shaping the future of sustainable water management.

“With ongoing innovation in the market, it is not incomprehensible to have an audacious target of 1.6-1.7 kWh/m3 in the next five years.”
